Insuring your home is one of the hardest parts of Homeownership. Do I have enough coverage? What happens if my home catches fire, or if its destroyed in a Hurricane? Do I have enough coverage for everything in the house. These are typical concerns of a homeowner when it comes to insuring their home, afterall it is one of the biggest purchases of your life.
Rest assure with Excellence First Insurance, We've got you covered! We insure each home as if it were our own. We review the policies with our clients to make sure they understand what is covered and what isn't. Let's face it, everyone wants the "cheapest policy" but the cheapest policy doesn't always give you the coverage you need, when you need it the most.
A couple of things to consider when insuring a home:
Dwelling: This is the amount of coverage for the structure itself. Anything attached to the home is part of this coverage. Homes are insured for rebuilding costs not market value.
Other Structures: This covers anything detached from the home. (Fences, Mailboxes, Sheds, Flagpoles, etc)
Personal Property: This covers your personal property inside the home that is not permanently attached. (Washer, Dryer, Clothes, Furniture, Etc.) There are two ways to insure your personal property, Replacement Cost or Actual Cash Value.
Loss of Use: This coverage applies in the event that you need to relocate due to a coverage loss. Your policy will help with the costs associated with your temporary relocation.
Personal Liability: This coverage applies if you are found liable.
Medical Payments: This coverage applies when someone is injured on your property.
All Other Perils Deductible: The portion of the claim you are responsible for in the event of Fire, Lightning, Theft, etc.
Hurricane Deductible: The portion of the claim you are responsible for in the event there is damage due to a "Named Storm".
There are many exclusions on a homeowners policy as well depending on the carrier. Let our insurance specialist help you with your home insurance needs.
